APABA Executive Board
Roles and Responsibilities
President Elect: The President Elect’s role will be to serve as a member of the executive of the Association and to chair at least one team (looking to make a motion to change this). The President Elect will assist the President in preparation of the annual article and annual report to be submitted to ABAI. The President Elect will attend regular meetings, prepare agendas, review minutes, reports, and other documentation required to participate as an engaged and active board member.
o 1 year in office (before 1 year presidency and 1 year past presidency)
o Attend 6 executive meetings per year plus any additional meetings
President:
The president will provide leadership by expanding and improving on the services offered to members through the Association; will coordinate the activities of the Association; will chair all meetings of the association; and, when necessary, will maintain communications with ABAI and other
professional organizations. Because part of our goal will be to provide education to the community in general, the President will promote educational initiatives through the media, through educational institutions, and with relevant government officials. Finally, the President will prepare and submit the
annual article (summary of news and activities of the chapter) and annual report to be submitted to ABAI. The President will be assisted in this task by the President-Elect.
o 1 year in office (after 1 year president-elect and 1 year past presidency)
o Attend 6 executive meetings per year plus any additional meetings
Past President
The Past President’s role will be serve as a member of the Executive of the Association, to provide assistance to the President when necessary and in the activities described above, to form a nominations committee to insure suitable candidates are available for the annual election of officers.
o 1 year in office (after 1 year president-elect and 1 year presidency)
o Attend 6 executive meetings per year plus any additional meetings
Secretary:
The role of the Secretary is to ensure that minutes are taken at all meetings and that the minutes are distributed to all members within a reasonable time frame. Also, a permanent record of the minutes will be maintained by the Secretary and passed on to whomever should succeed in that position. The Secretary is responsible for tracking and updating the membership list. Finally, the Secretary will attend regular meetings, review agendas, minutes, reports, and other documentation required to participate as an engaged and active board member.
o 2 years in office
o Attend 6 executive meetings per year plus any additional meetings
Treasurer:
The role of the Treasurer is to oversee the collection of annual fees and disbursements. The Treasurer will have experience in handling business accounts, including a basic knowledge of bookkeeping. Alternatively, a bookkeeper or accountant can be hired if needed to assist the Treasurer. The chapter Treasurer will keep copies of all materials filed with the municipal, provincial, or federal governments. The Treasurer will also retain copies of all financial records, as well as related correspondence to and from ABAI. These records will be kept for future reference for at least 7 years. The Treasurer is responsible for transferring money between all APABA accounts, and sending money to speakers, team members for reimbursement and to award recipients. Finally, the treasurer will attend regular meetings, review agendas, minutes, reports, and other documentation required to participate as an engaged and active board member.

Members At Large (2):
The Members at Large will be to keep up to date with issues and trends that affect the organization, attend regular meetings, review agendas, minutes, reports, and other documentation required to participate as an engaged and active board member. This role serves as part of the reporting body to committee chairpersons and can possibly engage in specific committee work. In addition, Members at Large contribute skill and knowledge as part of building awareness of the applications of ABA for our membership.
o 1 or 2 years in office
